Important Dates:

May 24th: 5th Grade Picnic and Games (12:15pm-2:15pm)

May 25th: 5th- Grade Promotion Ceremony in the gym from 8am-9am (estimated end time)

May 25th: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! (Half-day with a release time of 10:50am and no lunch served)

August 15: Ice Cream Social and Supply Drop-Off (likely 4-5pm)

August 16: First Day of School (half of kindergarteners come this day, and teachers will communicate which ones)

 

Timnath Families,

Thank you for a WONDERFUL school year! As we head into summer, our communications won’t start back up again until late July or early August. We will be reaching out to incoming kindergarten families about a transition event for students to meet the teachers and see classrooms so teachers can learn a little more about the incoming students before placing them on class lists. Your K-5 child’s class assignment will be viewable in ParentVUE likely on August 12, and all K-5 students and families will be invited to our Ice Cream Social/Supply Drop-Off event on August 15 so students can see their classroom, meet their teacher, and drop off their supplies the day before school starts. Kindergarteners will do a staggered start with only half of the students coming each day for the first two days of school, and they will all come at the same time starting August 18.

I wish our 5th graders (and their families) the best of luck with middle school. I will miss seeing them each day, and I certainly welcome all of them back to visit us when they can. Though it’s hard to say goodbye to our 5th graders each year, we know they are ready for their next step in their educational journey, and we’re excited to welcome a new batch of Timnath Cubs to our school.

Staff Changes for the 2022-2023 School Year:

There are wonderful things going on in the lives of our Timnath staff that will lead to some of them not returning next year, like moving out of state for personal reasons, moving to a school close to home for their family, retirement, starting an in-home preschool, moving to new roles within education to pursue professional goals, etc. While we are very excited for them and supportive of their next steps, it’s going to be hard to say goodbye. Please join us in thanking the following staff members for their service at Timnath Elementary and wishing them well on their new adventures:

  • MaKenzie Skaggs – School Psychologist (special service providers are placed at buildings by Integrated Services, and MaKenzie will be placed at a different PSD school next year)

We had some amazing candidates apply to replace the aforementioned staff members, and we really feel like we struck gold with the candidates we hired to join us next year. We’re excited for what they will bring to our school and for the opportunity to learn new things from them. Our new hires are not all a one-to-one replacement for the roles listed above. We created a new math intervention position so we can have someone lead a new building-wide system for math intervention, and that person will also have some time dedicated to supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioral support needs. Our current media center and technology positions are held by classified staff members, and we hired a certified teacher to take over those roles next year with the expectations that go along with a certified teaching role (a high-level of planning, instruction, and innovative practices). Our Integrated Services staff will consist of two certified teachers and one I.S. para next year (versus one teacher and three paras like this year). We will have one in-building sub next year instead of two. We are adding four instructional paras to support instruction in 1st grade as well as to help provide math support throughout our building. The paras and in-building sub will be hired in July.

Medication Pickup:

If your student had medication(s) in the health office during the 2021-2022 school year, please stop in the last weekday of school to pick them up.  Medications cannot be sent home with students. If you have any questions, please call Meg Sollee at 970-480-6831 or email her at msollee@psdschools.org.

 

Last Day of School Schedule:

The last day of school is a half-day for students but full day for staff. Students will be dismissed 10:50am on May 25th. No lunch will be served. Bus and parent pick-up dismissal will run as usual but will start at 10:50am.

 

2nd Semester Report Cards:

Report cards will be available in ParentVUE by 4pm on Friday, May 27th. 

 

Apply for Free and Reduced Lunch for 2022-23 school year:

For the upcoming school year, meals will no longer be free for all students, only for those who have been approved for the Free and Reduced Meal Program. See if you qualify >>

 

Illness Guidelines:

We are now expected to follow the state health department’s “How Sick is Too Sick?” guidelines, so please save this link to refer to when deciding if your child is well enough to come to school. Since most illness symptoms now require a negative COVID test prior to returning to school (or a 5-day isolation period followed by masking during days 6-10), there are multiple ways to access free tests (see below).
