Pfizer Vaccine Approved for Kids Ages 5-11:

  • On Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave the final OK for immediate distribution of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.
  • The vaccine will be given to kids in smaller doses, one-third of the dosage given to teens and adults.
  • PSD is not requiring staff or students to get the COVID vaccine.
  • Families, staff and students have the option to get vaccinated at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s mobile vaccine clinic, which will be at several PSD schools throughout November. More info >>
    • To be clear, PSD staff are not administering the vaccines.
    • This is a 100% voluntary opportunity.

IMatter Program:

  • Youth and their parents can visit the I Matter platform to take a confidential online survey about their mental health and schedule sessions with a licensed behavioral health clinician, primarily online over telehealth. All Colorado youth ages 18 or younger — or 21 and younger if receiving special education services — are eligible to receive free services.
  • The program provides up to three free counseling sessions for Colorado Youth.
  • Colorado House Bill 21-1258 established this temporary program to provide access to mental health and substance use disorder services for youth, including addressing needs that may have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic. In June 2021, Gov. Jared Polis signed the bipartisan legislation, which dedicated $9 million to the program as part of the Polis-Primavera administration’s Colorado Comeback roadmap. I Matter is funded and administered by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Behavioral Health. The program is funded until June 30, 2022.

PSD Turkey Round Up:

WHAT: Bring your FROZEN turkeys to school

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, between 7:25-8:00 AM

WHERE: Our school’s Turkey Wrangler, Mrs. Barela, will have a truck parked in Timnath’s east parking lot between 7:25-8:00 AM to collect the turkeys

WHY: To help our PSD families and community members share a meal this year

See the attachment for further details.

A few updates for you as we look forward to Turkey Round Up on Nov. 18th:

  1. Anticipating supply-chain issues and less turkey availability this season, frozen hams and frozen chickens will also be accepted in the Round Up and counted toward school totals.
  2. The Food Bank is accepting EARLY donations at these two locations:

 Fort Collins Fresh Food Share

1301 Blue Spruce Dr., Fort Collins

Tuesday through Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Food Bank for Larimer County – Wright Drive Location

5706 Wright Drive., Loveland

Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Individuals can tell Food Bank representatives which school they are donating on behalf of and those numbers will be added to the school’s total round-up count. The Food Bank has received over 6,500 requests for frozen turkeys this year. The need in our community is greater than ever.
