I have had the privilege of being an educator of young children for 34 years. I have worked with kids in grades K-3rd. At Timnath I taught first grade for many years, but am currently teaching wonderful second graders! I have three children. Dillon and my daughter in law, Emily teach school in Alamosa, Colorado. Dillon is a High School teacher and Emily teaches 5th grade. My daughter, Hannah, is a graduate student attending the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She is getting her degree in Physical Therapy.
I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.A. in Elementary Education with an area of concentration in reading. I hold a Professional Teacher's License with the state of Colorado.
I have always liked working with kids and consider teaching my "calling." I especially enjoy second graders with all the joy and excitement they bring to a classroom. I believe every child deserves a warm, safe and joyful learning environment. A place that supports them to take risks, to learn and to reach their full potential.
I always have trouble choosing a favorite book...there are so many great books! I like mysteries and historical fiction. I have about 50 favorite kid's books!
In my spare time I enjoy bike riding, hiking, working in my garden and traveling with my family - especially to warm beach destinations to relax and read a good book. I am a bit of a shop -a-holic when it comes to clothes, shoes and jewelry, but lack of time and money keep me in check!
I love working with the amazing staff and families that make Timnath great!
