My name is Gretta St.Martin and I am so excited to be returning for my third year as the Timnath Elementary Counselor! I absolutely loved becoming a part of this warm, welcoming community and am looking forward to good things for the year ahead.
I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and raised in a bilingual home in San Diego, CA. I went to college and lived in Northern California during my early adulthood and worked as a social worker in various settings. When researching graduate school social work programs, I visited Ft. Collins, CO and fell in love with northern Colorado's natural beauty and vibrant, friendly people. My husband Terry and I moved here in 1999, thinking we would do a two year stint in graduate school and return to California to our friends and family. 20 years later, we are happily still Ft. Collins residents!
My husband and I have two sons, Marcus age 14, and Sean age 11, and a puppy named Maisie. I am beginning my 14th year in education, having been both a school counselor and school social worker. I have worked in mental health for 22 years.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Humboldt State University in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1997
I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Colorado State University in 2001
I love seeing things click for kids, that moment where they "get it." With counseling and behavior support, I love teaching and practicing skills and then seeing students using their skills independently. Teaching allows me to spend my work days with young people. Their vibrancy, curiosity, and sense of humor is contagious.
I am an avid reader, so it's really almost impossible to answer this question!

I like to swim, run and ski. I love reading, both to myself and aloud to my kids. As a family, we like to go skiing, camping, and ride bikes. Basically, anything that brings us outdoors to enjoy all of Colorado's beauty. We love exploring new places in Colorado.
The diversity of students and learning styles, and the wonderfully supportive community.
